Mary Simmons is director in the Division of Cardiopulmonary Science in the School
of Allied Health. She is responsible for the overall administration, instruction
and evaluation of the CPS program. She obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in cardiopulmonary
science, and Master of Public Health Degree (MPH) at Florida A&M University. Her practice
background includes respiratory therapy in adult critical care, pediatrics, trauma
and chronically diseased patients such as HIV/AIDS, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary
Disease (COPD), sarcoidosis and Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). Professor
Simmons also credentialed in public health and has experience in the fields dealing
with child hood obesity, needlesticks in the work place, and community health as a
whole. Her research interests include adolescent obesity, occupational health, diversity
in allied health sciences and behavioral health.
David Saint, M.D., Florida A&M University
David Saint is medical director and associate professor in the Division of Cardiopulmonary
Science in the School of Allied Health Sciences. Saint supervises and assures the
medical components of the curriculum both didactic and clinical practice. He received
his residency training received a Master of Science degree from Samford University
and Medical Degree from the University of Alabama Birmingham. He completed his residency
in general surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern, and thoracic resident
surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Harbor, Mich. He is board certified in
both general and thoracic surgery and is in private practice at Heart Surgery Center/Tallahassee
Memorial Health Care.
Kandy T. Woods, MPH, RRT, Florida A&M University.

Kandy T. Woods is an assistant professor and coordinator of clinical educationin cardiopulmonary
science in the School of Allied Health Sciences. She obtained a Bachelor of Science
degree in cardiopulmonary science, and Master of Public Health Degree (MPH) with a
concentration in health policy and management at Florida A&M University. She is responsible
for the coordination of clinical education at affiliated hospitals and other health
care and related agencies. Professor Woods is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in public
health with a concentration in community health. She has been a respiratory therapist
for 11 years. Her primary clinical experiences are in the areas of neonatal/pediatric
care, adult critical care, and extended and long term care. She has been an American
Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation provider and educator for six years.
Her research efforts focus on improving the health of populations by utilizing social
and behavior research methods through the use of community-based participatory research.
